A shocking incident involving Batik Air in Indonesia has recently come to light. Both Airbus pilots, traveling with 153 passengers, fell asleep simultaneously, leading to the plane losing its way (Pilots Fell Asleep). This incident occurred in January of this year, prompting an inquiry into the matter, with subsequent action taken against the responsible pilot and co-pilot. The incident transpired during a flight from Sulawesi to Jakarta with 153 passengers on board.

Half an hour after takeoff, the flight captain sought a brief rest, and the co-pilot requested permission to do the same. Due to a lack of sleep the night before, the co-pilot unintentionally fell asleep shortly thereafter. The Area Control Center in Jakarta attempted to contact the plane but received no response from the pilots. After 28 minutes, the pilot awoke to discover his co-pilot also sleeping.

Observing that the plane was off course, the pilot promptly woke up his co-pilot. Subsequently, both pilots responded to the Air Traffic Control (ATC) calls and guided the plane back on the correct path. Remarkably, all 153 passengers, including the four flight crew members, completed the flight without any issues. The Indonesian Ministry of Transport reprimanded Batik Airways for the incident. In response, Batik Airways has declared its commitment to implementing all safety recommendations, and action has been taken against those deemed responsible.
