A Texas elementary school teacher met her killer on the dating app “Meet Me” a week before she was killed.

An incredible story has emerged in Texas, USA, where a woman was found dead in her garden after her mother claimed she met her alleged killer on a dating app a week before her murder, according to the British Mirror.

Police found the body of 28-year-old teacher Wendy Duane with gunshot wounds in Texas on the night of January 7th.

Police rushed to the scene after neighbors called to report hearing four gunshots.

A man named Charvas Thompson, 28, was arrested in Louisiana in connection with her murder and has now been extradited to Texas.

The victim’s mother said that the two had met on the MeetMe app a week before the tragic incident and were dating.

“She showed it to me and I said, I don’t like it.”

The devastated woman, who did not want to be named, told the Mirror that her daughter showed her a picture of the suspect when she came to meet him.

“He showed me the picture. I didn’t know his name. He just said, ‘Do you like it?’ I said no”.

Police identified Thompson as a suspect after interviewing witnesses, reviewing surveillance video and identifying his vehicle from license plates in the area.

Duane’s mother says Thompson mistook her daughter’s kindness for weakness. He hopes to spend a long time behind bars.

“That guy is really bad,” he said. “It took her life. I hope this person gets the full legal punishment.”

The devastated mother described her daughter as a loving and dedicated teacher: “Every Thursday she asks me to go to the store to buy gifts for the children.”

“good and kind girl”

Sandy Thomas, the victim’s neighbor, said Duane was a “good girl” who was proud to be a third-grade reading and language arts teacher.
